What To Bring To The Range:

  • Handgun

  • Minimum 2 magazines (3 is preferred).

  • Duty belt, handgun holster, and magazine pouch.

  • 100 rounds of ammunition (minimum).

  • Dress for safety and for the weather. Long pants (no cargo shorts or you will be turned away with no refund), long/short sleeve shirt. Company uniform is perfectly acceptable since you are representing your employer and they are sponsoring you in good faith. 

  • Eye and ear protection (electronic hearing protection is recommended).

  • Failure to complete the drills, or  tardiness to the range will result in dismissal and you will be turned away with no refund offered.

Shooting Qualification: B27 Target

  • 3-yards / time 30 seconds: Upon CFI command to fire you will: draw from the holster with dominant hand only and fire five rounds, transition to non-dominant hand keeping the handgun pointed down range and fire five rounds unsupported, speed load a five round magazine and re-holster. The handgun will now be loaded and ready for the next drill. 

  • 7-yards / time 30 seconds: Upon CFI command to fire you will: draw from the holster and fire five rounds standing with two hands supported, speed load the next magazine keeping the handgun pointed down range and drop to a kneeling position, fire five rounds. Stand, recover, reholster.

  • 15-yards / time 30 seconds: Upon CFI command to fire you will: draw from the holster and fire five rounds with two hands supported, speed reload, drop to a kneeling position keeping the handgun down range, fire five rounds. End Drills.

Note: Keep the handgun pointed down range until the CFI and or Range Safety Officer (RSO) has cleared the handgun. The handgun may be reholster at that time. 

Upon Successful Course Completion:

  • All necessary paperwork will be submitted to the PILB office within 5 days of completing the course.

  • The PILB will verify the information and update their system to reflect the individual who is authorized to be armed.

  • The PILB will print and mail individual a new hard plastic permanent work card to replace their unarmed card.

Note: 

  • An individual who wishes to maintain his/her certification must successfully qualify for a certification every 6 months during the designated months indicated on the card.

  • If an individual fails to qualify during any of his/her designated qualification months, the card becomes invalid and the individual is no longer permitted to use a firearm in the course of his/her employment until a requalification course is successfully completed. This means the individual may work unarmed only. Please refer to NAC 648.350 for additional information
